Masculine Challenge

Hi Friends! You might already know this, but I'm now designing for the Wee Memories challenge blog. AND This week we are having our August Blog Hop!
You should have arrived here from Cathy's blog, but if you got lost or want to start over just go to Jenny's Wee Memories blog and you'll find the yellow brick road there. Or the blog hop list.

This week's challenge is sponsored by Graphic 45, I love their stuff, and the new stamps they've been adding to their lines are sweet too! So if you like Graphic 45 be sure to play along 'cause the prize package is pretty awesome!  The challenge theme this week is (wait for it, wait for it.....)

Masculine!  Sooo... I went of out my regular comfort zone a little bit and made this birthday card. For my Dad? His birthday is in December.. so I guess I'm ahead of the game this one time!
I used several papers from my scrap pile (mountain....Everest), some fun foam stamps for the word 'dad' and a purple onion stamp for the happy birthday portion. The rodeo type graphic was found online and printed...  I don't feel like i'm very good at making masculine cards but I actually like the way this one turned out! Victory!

Now to keep going along the blog hop stop by Giovanna's great blog

A Father's Day card

Hi friends, its a Shabby Tea Room Sunday night! (Or Monday morning...)
This week Charlene ask us to use 2 patterned papers, 4 buttons, and 6 layers. What a fun challenge!
And this week's sponsor is Just Rite Stamps- their prize packages are always so great, you definitely don't want to miss a chance winning it!

I really tried to make this card masculine, so I left out the ribbon and used twine instead and kept it pretty simple...I think maybe I should have made it grungier? Either way...
My favorite part is the award ribbon. I love that image from Just Rite's 'You're the best' cling stamp set. This stamp set is so fun, and I can see myself using it a lot. (I'm thinking I'll have to make all my brother in laws' Father's Day cards soon!)

The Shabby Girls have some beautiful things to show you, so make sure to stop by their blogs too!

one challenging masculine card

Now this card was a challenge.
The sketch was straight from Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge

No kidding, the ladies at WMSC don't take the word "Challenge" lightly. ;)
But hey, thats the whole point of a Challenge Blog, right?

The colors are inspired by the Curtain Call color challenge.

These colors were also challenging for me.
If that wasn't enough I also decided to make it masculine.
I'm not sure I really love it, but here it is anyway. I might have another go at both these challenges if I get an extra minute (or 90).
