Spooky Banner

Hi friends, Its been a little while since I've posted, but i'm back with a Halloween project for the Wee Memories' 71st challenge.

Can you guess what the challenge theme might be this week?....
Halloween! Sweet eh? I love Halloween, love it! Halloween and Christmas are my favorite holidays to decorate for. I haven't brought out all my fall/Halloween decorations yet, (they're in the crawl space, and I don't go in there....spooky!;) so I made this fun banner. I used papers from Papertrey Ink to make the double layered medallions and I used my Cricut to cut out the pumpkins and the letters. Its pretty simple to make, although the scoring and folding of the medallions might make your hands cramp, and your eyes cross...Maybe.
Here's a trick to get all that glitter to stay on. I used spray adhesive and did two layers of glitter, then I sprayed some hairspray over the glitter to keep it from crumbling off.

Are you feeling the Halloween spirit? ;o)
I'd love it if you visited Wee Memories and joined us in this challenge. This week's sponsor is Paper Smooches, they have adorable stamps and will be offering a prize to a special someone who plays along in this challenge... don't you want to be that special someone? You could be, just link up your Halloween creations before next Saturday!

We'd LOVE for your to display our blog button on your blog.

Here's a peek at my Fall 'faux' mantle. I have acorns, chestnuts and pine cones in the vintage jars.

P.S. I'm gathering photography tips and blogs- and plan on doing some serious learning in the next few weeks (Maybe in time to get a new camera for Christmas? ;o)....) If you know of any great photography blogs or tutorials please oh please send them my way. :o)

ETA- The larger medallion is 6 inches across. I used four 3x8 paper strips for the larger ones and two 2x8 strips for the smaller ones. The patterned paper pad was 8x8.

One layer card challenge

Hi there! So, there's another Wee Memories challenge for you to
play along with- make a one layer card. Yikes-for me that was really a challenge because I love layering and using tons of patterned papers..you know. Anyway, I used this stamp set from Papertrey Ink that i've kinda been in love with lately-Green Thumbs? I can never remember the names... So I just stamped the whole card because I'm not a white space kinda gal. I love the way it turned out.

Simple but not boring. I love those flowers..Sad thing is that after I was done stamping the flowers, I let my son (Gavin-2 1/2) play with the flower stamp while I finished up the card...Now I can't find my stamping block or flower stamp anywhere. True story. Sad story. :o(\

If I can make a one layer card, so can you! So make your card and link it up before next Saturday for a chance to win a prize from Wilson Designs. Her stamps are too, too cute!

The large subway sentiment stamp is from Purple Onions *seriously love those!!* The mason jar and pumpkins are from Papertrey Ink. I apologize for my awful pictures lately..I've been taking them at night *Gasp!* ;o)

Back to school challenge

Its Saturday morning- that means its time for another Wee Memories challenge! This week the challenge is 'Back to school'

backtoschool

I created a fun scrappy card for a teacher...
My daughter will be starting preschool soon, so i'm going to be a school-kid mom! Yikes, i'm totally nervous...!

I used papers from DCWV and October Afternoon, the stamps are all PTI sets. I've really been into paper piecing lately! Its so much fun. And I've been too lazy to bring out the copics...soo there you go! And I really adore mixing patterned papers, and paper piecing can make that really fun.

Your Next Stamp

The sponsor for the Back to School challenge is Your Next Stamp and they are giving away a stamp set, so be sure to play along by 9/02 for a chance to win!

Its your day!

I'm hosting the challenge this week at the Shabby Tea Room. All you have to do is use the colors from the lovely inspiration photo, and gingham or polka dots. Fun, right?

I colored the roses--Heartfelt Creations Bella Rose Trellis, which can be found at Joan's Gardens  Crafts, (This week's sponsor!) with Copic markers. I wanted a bolder look, to match the illustration style of the rose image.

Joan's Gardens crafts is giving away a super generous prize, so you don't want to miss your chance of winning!
Be sure to check out the Shabby Girls' blogs too!

Thank You BERRY Much!

Hi friends, its been a bit of a ghost town over here this past week... I've had the luck to secure a hard drive issue on my laptop-the only working computer in my house! So i'm waiting for the bitter-sweet 'recovery hard  disc' that will set my computer back to its factory state. (P.S. if you're new computer or notebook sends you a friendly little reminder to create a recovery disc....say, every day.....Do it!)

So here's this week's Shabby Tea Room Challenge card. The challenge is to use an embossing technique-I used wet embossing with white powder. I also used a digi image (Fruity Strawberries) from Robyn's Fetish.

Well, Its late here... and I'm at my sister's house using her computer... Better get going! I hope to have my computer up and running this coming week, and I've got lots to show you!
BTW- Sorry for the awful picture, I'll try and get a better one in the morning!
OH! And don't forget to leave some love for the Shabby Girls at their wonderful blogs!

Yellow flower

I've had flowers on the mind, lately.
I've been making fabric flowers for a customer, and I've been doing a bit of gardening too.
Today was such a nice day, that I spent most of the day with my hands in the dirt. I don't have a big flower garden, just a flower bed in front of my house but every spring I love to dig around and add new things. This year I decided to rid my flower bed of all the periwinkle-hate that stuff! It was so invasive, and unruly... But now I have room for new plants...I planted some gladiolas, lupine, delphiniums, foxglove and blue bonnets. Then I had my husband plant a lilac and a couple of hydrangeas in front of our house. (I've tried hydrangeas several times but they usually die...we'll see how these ones do) I still have a lot of things I we  he needs to do...we've lived in our house for 4.5 years but our landscaping is still and ever-growing project.
Our backyard is completely void of flowers. Of course a couple of kids and a couple of dogs could have something to do with that. ;o)
Anyway, sorry for that long gardening tangent there... Here is my yellow flower card.

This card was totally inspired by the CR84FN color challenge this week. Light blue, light yellow, and kraft-soo pretty and soft!

I made the yellow flower, and used papers from Echo Park and DCWV. I also used some Prima lace, seam binding ribbon, and a little key from The Girls Paperie. The sentiment, as always, is from Papertrey ink.

I'm still working on a card order, so I have lots of other cards to show- I just need to find the time to take some pictures while its still light outside.

Thats all for tonight folks, I've had a good productive day and now i'm tired...Night!

Happy birthday cupcake

Another quick post for another challenge card.
This one is for Card Pattern's sketch challenge this week.

I used my Cricut for the cupcake, cute huh?

Lavender poppies

Is that confusing or what?
 Lavender-yes, poppies-yes...lavender poppies-huh?
Oh well, thats what happens when you're trying to make a card for a color challenge. In this case its the CR84FN Color challenge, which I haven't done in a while! I've been working on an order for an Etsy customer, and seeking inspiration anywhere I can find it.

How can I help but be inspired by that ^ ?

So here's my purple and kraft card...

I also linked this card to the Wee Memories stamping challenge this week.

I used Papertrey Ink's new 2010 anniversary set on this. I really love the simpler look of this card...doing it again!

Busy bee

I've been busy as a bee creating cards for a sweet Etsy customer. Here are a few of them....I still have about 20 to go!

BTW- did you notice that some of these pictures appear brighter and clearer than other? Its because I've been trying to fight the 'Auto' function and i've been playing with my manual settings on my camera... well the duller photos are the manual ones.. lol. So i'll stick with my auto settings until I take a class or two!

A couple of Mother's Day cards

I know its past Mother's Day, but I wanted to show you a little something I made for my sisters who are mommies.

I all started with 7 brown bananas and some time to kill before going out to a late movie. Dun dun dun...

And then an adorable stamp set 'Everyday Treats' from Papertrey Ink....

And then there was the Melissa Frances Kitschy Kitchen Paper....

AND a perfect Mother's Day stamp set from Crafty Secrets...

So I made these cards with matching tags for the banana bread. I love the color combo SOOO much. So much, that my house is decorated in these colors... :o)

So here's my card for this week's Shabby Tea Room challenge.

Overflow

Here are some cards I made in this past week...

I've been trying to use up my supplies, as they are taking over my house! I'm thinking of selling some of my stuff...if you've sold extra supplies online, where did you do it? Did you have a problem selling 12x12paper because of shipping?
Thanks in advance!

Just for you

As promised, here's one of the cards I made the other day... I made this one for the CR84FN color challenge. This week's colors are brown green and kraft.

I used a bird embellishment from K&Company and stamps by Papertrey Ink. The papers are PTI, Prima, and Melissa Frances. The flower is from a vintage necklace I found a few years ago.
I've really been experimenting with my photos, I think i'm getting closer... what do you think?
Thanks for visiting!
