One last card for the Shabby Tea Room design team call. 

I stamped the background in pink with this really pretty lace background stamp. I got it at a craft show, it came unmounted and now I can't remember who the manufacturer was. Its a really pretty stamp, I also used it on my "Girl in the moon" card, you can see a bit peeking out at the top.

The tea pot is a vintage image from the Graphics Fairy. I printed it out, then glimmer misted with a color I made (I mixed a pink bubblegum with pearl) and then I embossed the whole tea pot several times with clear embossing powder. The embossing powder makes the piece sturdier, and give it a bit of a shiny finish. I like how this turned out, it totally doesn't look like something I printed off my computer.

That bitty star is an embellishment I made using a Sizzix die and some German glass glitter.

I did use the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge sketch#34 for the layout. 

Its seems like a clean and simple sketch but I embellished it up a bit.

Girl on the moon

 

I love this whymsical vintage image of the girl sitting on the moon. Its so darling and fun. AND so appropriate for my blog name. Love it. It comes from the Crafty Secrets creative scraps, Altered Fairies. I really like using these Creative Scraps. I want all of them! 

I also used some of my pink scraps, you might recognize the papers from some other recent cards. I really dislike accumulating scraps, so I really try to use them asap! 

I got the colors for this card from The Play Date Cafe Challenges. 

See the button string at the bottom? I love love this! And you'll be seeing it again, and maybe again and again.  I was inspired by all the button festivities at PTI. 

Birdie Darling...

 I love making these flowers! I told you that you'd see more, and this isn't the last either. They turn out so beautifully with very little effort. I glimmer misted this one with pink bubblegum glimmer mist while it was still closed.

Chocolate Love

 Whats with me and chocolate lately? I'm not sure but this chocolate thing is not limited to papercrafting, last week when I was grocery shopping I bought a bag of Toffee and Almond Nuggets and guess what, they are gone. Yikes!

So this card came pretty naturally to me....;o)

It was inspired by this picture at The Shabby Tea Room

   

The challenge also included the use of hearts.

What a cute  set in the photo! I love wooden play food...my kids have a whole arsenal of Melissa and Doug play food. But be aware that wooden toys are heavy weapons. I've kissed a few boo-boos inflicted by some of these toys. My kids' favorite set is the Melissa and Doug donuts. I'll let you in on a little secret...I mostly buy these because I love them (shhh)..

I had such a hard time picking my favorite pictures of this card, so you get a few more than usual. I am a little picture-happy in general, I think. When I look at other people's blogs I just enjoy looking at the pictures the most. A lot of the time I will click on the photo to enlarge it, I love taking in all those tiny details that make the project. 

 The above picture shows the dimension on the card, thats so hard to capture with a straight on shot. I used pop dots to adhere the tag, and then also  to adhere the chocolate yumminess. 

I used Martha Stewart clear glitter on the cakes and chocolate. It reminds me of sugar. 

 I used the Get Sketchy sketch# 73 for the layout, again. Fun Fun. 

Have a cupcake.

I love cupcakes. I love to eat them but mostly I love to look at them. This cupcake is no exception. It comes from the Basic Grey nook and pantry line, which is my all time favorite Basic Grey line. Probably because its chock full of cute little cupcakes, with those yummy doily-ish prints. Love love love. 

 I used the colors from  CR84FN this week to make this card.. They have the yummiest color combos and even yummier inspiration picture. (I used a cupcake in last weeks CR84FN card too! Maybe its because last week's color combo had brown in it too...and to me brown=chocolate.)

I went to Archivers last weekend, hoping to do some crafty shopping. I hadn't bought ANY craft thing in TWO months. TWO MONTHS. I can hardly believe it myself. Anyway, I went to Archivers to break my two month fast. After looking around for a little while, nothing was speaking to me. Nothing tugged at my heart, nothing softly called my name...(I know that you know what I mean) I was so disappointed.

Was I being frugal? Was there really nothing that I wanted to buy? But alas I saw a shelf adorned with little goodies from The Girls Paperie. Ahh yes! So I went home with these adorable die cut pieces of birds, flowers, keys, and clock in pretty shades of pink and aqua.... 

The point of this story? To give you a little background on that pink and brown frame sitting behind the cupcake. And to let you know how that flourished  black and white frame with tiny polka dots came into my life.

The layout was inspired by this sketch from Card Patterns. 

Butterflies should fly.

I made this card for a couple of challenges.

Let me tell you that was not an easy color combination for me. I did find some papers from the DCWV Mariposa stack that worked though. I love using patterned papers. A lot of the time when I make a card, I start with picking out patterned papers in the colors I need first. 

The layout comes from a Get Sketchy sketch for this week.

That one was also a challenge... So I decided to combine them. (what?)

Right before I went to take pictures of this card, my almost 2 year old son decided to "play" with the butterflies. All the butterflies were off the card, and he had torn one right down the middle...He was making them fly (AKA Throwing them in the air)...What a goober. lol. Well I got them glued back together, but he left his mark. 

Do I sound super whiney, or what?  I don't mean to. But its all snowy outside too. Yuk.

I promise my next hope will be so cheerful it'll induce smiles. 

A special occasion collage.

Yes, its another one of those flowers! I told you they were so fun to make. I made this one out of Fine Linen PTI cardstock, and then misted it with Pink Bubblegum Shimmer Mist when it was still all closed up. I love how it looks when you fold down the petals. Be prepared to see lots of these in the future.

I'm entering this card in the "Get Creative" Shabby Tea Room challenge.

I stamped the background, first with the flowers in Chai ink, then the flourishes in black, and last the pink polka dots. The birdie was also stamped with tiny polka dots. I also stamped the birdie and the stamp die cut.

I'm also entering this card in the Just Us Girls sketch challenge this week. The essence of the sketch was that the embellishments were concentrated in one corner of the card. I really like this look.

 Wee Memories' challenge this week is to use your scraps. I used only scraps (exept the flower) to make this card. I have a bucket die cut scraps that I keep around...sometimes I don't feel like making a card but I still want to play so I get out the cricut or cuttlebug and cut some shapes. Sometimes I just don't use everything I cut out for my project, so in the bucket it goes. It feels good to purge that stash sometimes. I need to create from that bucket more often.

Last but not least, I'm also entering this as another submission for The Shabby Tea Room design team call.

This being the inspiration photo. I went the pink/black/cream route again. Love those colors.

My favorite PTI card of 2010

I really like this card I made last year, i  never did post it on my blog, but I found it in my card picture folder today.

I used one of my favorite stamp sets ever, Friendship Jars (and additions of course!)

I glittered the "water" with Melissa Frances mica flakes.

Celebrate this day

See that pretty flower? I made it!I found this amazing flower tutorial on Joanne L's blog , and I wanted to try it right away. (I also fell in love with her blog, her cards are beautiful)
I sat down and made 3 flowers, they were so fun to make that I could have made 20 had I the time. I did find a little trick that made them easier for me, I sprayed each layer of the flower individually before I put the flower together on the brad. That made it easier because I did't have dry spots to keep spraying  and I didn't over wet the rest of the flower while spraying the dry spots. Your layers might dry a little while you're folding and scrunching, but re-wetting them is super fast and just needs a spray or two with your mini mister.

Anyway, who knew I would be so long winded today?

Sooo  remember how I made this card for the ColorQ challenge but then I found out that the challenge was over? Well this week I'm ahead of the game. I have my card for the ColorQ done. HA! Okay, its just a small victory for me. It so happens that their colors this week, and the inspiration picture had me so inspired I couldn't wait. I love this color combo. I used some Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet paper, and its the first time that I use this color, but I LOVE it. A lot. I'm doing this again. (I always say that but I mean it!)

I found some Basic Grey Nook and Pantry paper that had just the right colors in it, and with the flower I was ready to go.
I bet you recognize this layout, its kind of like the "Sunshine in my soul" card  I posted a couple days ago. Its the same layout from Wee Memories. Love that sketch, its so flexible and easy to work with!

Party Girl

So i've been having a hard time getting the colors right in my photos lately...I wonder if I accidentally changed a setting? I don't know... any tips? It seems as though the most saturated colors in the photo appear warmer than in real life. I tried messing with photo editors but no luck.. Does the ISO value mess with colors? Thats the only thing I can think of. 

Anyhow. After that large disclaimer here is another card!

I finally cut up some crafty secret scraps that i've had for a little while. I love this little girl's expression, its so shy and cute. I gave her a little crown and some pearls on her dress and crown.

You're Sweet!

 When I saw the colors over at CR84FN, I knew I had to make this card. Red and turquoise has to be my favorite color combination. It makes me think of a vintage kitchen. In fact, last summer I went and painted most of my house aqua and turquoise, and I love having red accents.

Anyway back to this card and the CR84FN challenge. This weeks colors are perfectly suited to my taste. 

I cut the cupcake using my cricut and the Hello Kitty cartridge, all the stamps are from a Hampton arts mini flip flop book. I glittered the "frosting"  and the sentiment with Martha's glitter. yum!

Hi there, so I've been enjoying a week of challenges again. Someone first told me, when I had entered my very first challenge, that they are addicting. They were soo right. 

The color combination for this card is straight from the ColourQ.

 I wouldn't have thought to use those colors together without their help.  I had a hard time getting the colors to look right in the photos for some reason... the frame is more purpleish....OOps! I just noticed that this particular ColorQ challenge ended already! Oh well, it was a fun color combo, and I enjoyed it. 

I entered this card in Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge. I love anything Waltzingmouse. Really, I do.

I made that flower myself. I was so excited that it actually worked out! I used PTI bloom builders dies. I'm going to do it again real soon.
