Celebrate buttons!

What a special treat, being a guest designer for Card Patterns sketch#104.
When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use 6 buttons for the 6 squares, and everything else just came together. Of course all the PTI button inspiration, from last week, helped!

I used some fabric scraps, and layered them onto a large manila tag.
I had a lot of fun going through my Papertrey Ink Vintage Buttons, to find the perfect ones for this card. Then I threaded them with some button twine and glued them to the squares.  Fun!

The papers I used are October Afternoon, I love that green polka dot. The fabric scraps are Heather Bailey's Nicey Jane and I'm pretty sure the yellow floral is from Windham's storybook collection.
I hope you're feeling a little inspired to play with this fun sketch!

Flower clips card gift

I started by making these flowers out of my favorite fabric collection EVER, Nicey Jane by Heather Bailey. After the flowers were done, I though there's no way they are just going to be embellishments on a card, sticking there for all eternity.. they're way to cute for that! So I decided to turn them into hair clips by gluing a hair clip, that I covered in ribbon, on the back.

But I still had a card to make, so instead of gluing (the horror!) these little cuties to the card, I added this extra strip of scrap fabric, only gluing down the ends. Oh how I love every single fabric in that collection!

I clipped the little flowers onto the piece of fabric....

There! I have my card done, but those flowers come off and can be clipped in your hair, on your headband, or even in your jacket's button hole...like a brooch, but not...  This card and gift in one is perfect for girls of all ages. I would totally wear those flowers in my hair, and they would look adorable in my 3yr olds hair too (if she had any left... she gave herself a hair cut a few days ago and is now sporting a mullet a la Joe Dirt...)

This whole thing started with a bit of inspiration I got from The Shabby Tea Room for their buttons and bows challenge

(P.S. I made the flowers with PTI's Beautiful Blooms#1 dies, I used 8 fabric flowers to create one big fluffly one. It took a lot of die cutting, folding, and burning my fingers with hot glue.)

I also linked this card to Someday Crafts for their Whatever Goes Wednesday.

Confessions

I have a confession to make.... Umm... ya... Okay....soooooo....
I spent the last 3 hours browsing quilting blogs.
Yikes, I said it.
I like fabric, I love patterns and colors and quilts and pretty things. I love fabric like I love patterned paper. You know how you have like...84million pounds of patterned paper? (yea me too.) Well I have a small fabric stash too. The problem is I don't really sew enough to justify my pile.
My fabric pile (minus Moda precuts) Summer 2010. eek, it keeps growing

Sooo browsing all that inspiration I decided that I really only need 3 hours of sleep a night. (I mean, who really NEEDS sleep?...?...okay I do because if I don't sleep I get uber super duper grumpy, just ask Josh.) And then I can make cards, and banners, and home decor AND quilts and aprons and cute clothes for my kids. Yep.

MBS-Ruffled-Shower-Curtain1

Oh and first things first I need to make this fabulous shower curtain I found browsing Moda's bakeshop.
Isn't that the funnest, girliest, prettiest, ruffleist, most amazing shower curtain ever?
Okay, I'm going to be grumpy tomorrow, and I have way too much to do for that. Sooooo off to bed I am.
